What is OSFED?
OSFED stands for "Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders." Those suffering from OSFED have symptoms of other eating disorders like Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and/or Binge Eating Disorder but do not meet the full criteria to be diagnosed for a specific eating disorder.

 

Red Flags

• Weight loss/weight gain 
• Loss of  menstrual cycle 
  
• Scars on knuckles and scratched throat from vomitting
  
• Fatigue from dehydration
  
• Preoccupation with food, weight, and body shape

• Having a distorted body image
  
• Anxious around food 
  

• Depression
  
•  Low self esteem 
  
• Labeling foods (ex. "good and forbidden foods)
  

• Dieting behaviour 
• Engaging in binge eating behaviors 
  
• Compulsive exercising (see anorexia athletica)
  
• Drastic changes in your view of certain foods
• Avoiding social gatherings that involve food 
• Increased focus on how food is prepared 
• Feeling lke food is controlling your daily life and freedom
